The surviving 16 or so miles of the former Shrewsbury and Hartlebury Railway between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, are well known as today's Severn Valley Railway.
Utilising contemporary footage, this documentary studies the line from its construction, through to closure as part of Dr. Beeching's rationalisation programme, continuing through its re-opening and development as one of Britain's premier preserved railways.
The typical Great Western Railway style country stations along the route are examined, along with plenty of footage of trains plying their way along this most scenic of routes.
The resident locomotive fleet are seen in action, plus visiting engines, including No 60009 Union of South Africa and No 6024 King Edward 1.
