The West Somerset Railway passes through no less than 20 miles of Somerset countryside, offering along it’s route views across the Quantock hills and the Bristol channel. The influence of the former owner, the Great Western Railway, is evident throughout a journey between Bishops Lydeard and the resort of Minehead with the stations and structures being little altered from original construction.
Emotive sequences of trains hard at work are present a-plenty as they are captured tackling the arduous gradients.
A vast variety of motive power, mainly of Swindon pedigree, is seen, with the home fleet of steam and diesel locomotives rubbing shoulders with visitors from around the country.
