First Preserved Steam on the Mountsorrel BranchA dedicated band of local volunteers have re-laid a short stretch of the branch line that once connected the Mounsorrel Quarry to the Great Central Railway's sidings at Swithland. On November 2nd 2011 steam power was seen on the branch for the first time in preservation, as "Jinty" 0-6-0 number 47406 took part in a specially arranged photographic charter organised by Russ Hillier.

Big Engines at the Mid Hants. RailwayThe Mid Hants. Railway staged its Autumn Steam Spectacular between 28th & 30th October. The emphasis was very much on "Big Engines", with No. 60183 Tornado and No. 70000 Britannia putting in appearances. Worth Valley Autumn Steam GalaThe Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala features in this sequence. The latest engine to enter traffic on the West Yorkshire line, Midland Railway 4F number 43924 is seen in action alongside Stanier Class 5 number 45212, Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 0-6-0 number 957 and visiting Great Western 2-8-0 number 2807. Severn Valley SpectacleThe Severn Valley Railway staged the highly successful 2011 Autumn Steam Gala on the 23rd, 24th & 25th of October. Here Gt. The Mid Norfolk Railway Milestone GalaOver the weekend of 16th/17th July the Mid Norfolk Railway staged its first ever full blown steam gala. The predominantly diesel operated line has provided a temporary base for number 6023 King Edward II whilst it has been "running in" following recent overhaul at Didcot. "The Blue King" has proved to be a big draw card for the railway and led a line up that also featured Pannier 0-6-0 number 9466 and Jinty 0-6-0 number 47406.

The Norfolkman Rail TourOn 2nd July No. 70013 Oliver Cromwell hauled the Norfolkman from London's Liverpool Street station into East Anglia, familiar territory for the BR Standard class 7 "Britannia" Pacifics. An outward bound route via Ipswich took the train to Norwich. Here No. 70013 is captured making a return departure, one that will see it heading for the capital by taking the Ely, Cambridge route.

1950s & 1960s Memories at The South Devon RailwayOn 11th & 12th June the South Devon Railway staged its 1950s and 1960s Gala Weekend, which featured a mix of steam power and diesel traction. In this sequence the "Bubble Car" number 55000, Class 25 number D7612, small prairie tank number 5526 and Collett 0-6-0 number 3205 are all captured in action. Isle of Wight Steam Railway Anniversary GalaOn the Bank Holiday weekend 28th - 30th May the Late Spring Gala was staged to celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Double Celebrations at the Talyllyn RailwayOn the 14th May the narrow gauge Talyllyn Raliway celebrated both the return to traffic of locomotive number 2 Dolgoch and their 60th birthday. At Tywyn Wharf station a ribbon was cut to commemorate the opening, 60 years ago to the day, of what is now generally regarded to be the oldest heritage railway in the world.
